Yesterday we welcomed The Reverend Paul Kennedy as new Priest-in-Charge of St Vedast-alias-Foster Church, located just off Cheapside on Foster Lane. St Vedast is an Anglican church in the Catholic tradition, , with a vibrant schedule of ecclesiastical, musical and social events. One of only a few city churches open 7 days a week. Definitely worth a visit in your lunch break or when you are visiting the area.

St Vedast’s position was vacant for a while so it was great to see Paul being licensed. Paul was until recently the Rector of the East Winchester benefice, in Hampshire. He has more than 20 years’ service in ordained ministry, and is leaving Winchester after eight years as their parish priest. Before ordination, Paul was trained, and worked, as a chartered accountant here in the City – so he knows the City well. As local councillor I look forward working with Paul and the team at St Vedast to reach out to the local community.

Service at St Vedast: I joined Alderman, The Lord Mountevans, and others for installation of The Rev Paul Kennedy

It was a warm and joyful ceremony, with beautiful performance of the church choir. St Vedast has a long tradition linked to several local Livery Companies such as the Goldsmiths, Wax Chandlers and Saddlers who are all based in the Ward of Cheap.
