On 23 March 2017 there will be elections for Common Councilmen in the City. Voters registered in the Ward of Cheap can cast their vote for up to three candidates. As an Independent prospective candidate I have been meeting people who live and work in the Ward of Cheap over the last few weeks. I am keen to hear from as many people as possible about what the City of London Corporation’s priorities should be in the next four years. Many issues that are important for the City cannot be solved by the Corporation alone. I will encourage the Corporation to work together with the Mayor of London, UK Government and business groups to ensure we get the best for the City.

This means working together to get the best Brexit deal possible, to reduce air pollution, to stand up for commuters and to join forces to keep the City safe. If elected as Common Councilman I will work hard to:

Get the best Brexit deal possible

  • Retain greatest possible access to the Single Market. No cliff edge
  • Protect the rights of EU nationals living in the UK. Stop uncertainty now
  • Seize opportunities that new trade deals will offer

Reduce air pollution

  • Encourage cycling and make our roads safer. Redesign Bank Junction
  • Join forces across London to improve our environment
  • Install more electric vehicle charging points in the City

Stand up for commuters

  • Safeguard investment in transport infrastructure for the City
  • Work together to stop disruptive tube and train strikes
  • Support action to improve Southern rail services

Fight crime and terrorism

  • Protect the independence of the City of London Police
  • Increase patrolling at major transport hubs
  • Continue to work closely with the Metropolitan Police against terrorism
